YOGA AND NATURES RETREAT

In The Himalayas

Facilitators/Guide - Manav ji + Sachendra ji + Johanna ji

Days - 6 Days / 5 Nights
Dates - 21st September to 26th September, 2025
RETREAT OVERVIEW

Urgam Valley, known as the Valley of Meditation, is steeped in spiritual history and natural beauty. Named after Urvashi, the son of King Puranjaya from the Pandava lineage, this sacred land has been a place of deep meditation for thousands of years. Often referred to as Shiva’s Mystical Land, it is home to the fifth Kedar, Kalpeshwar Mahadev—the only Panch Kedar temple open year-round, where Lord Shiva’s matted hair (jata) is worshipped.

Surrounded by lush greenery, fertile fields, and dense forests, the valley teems with diverse flora, butterflies, and exotic birds. Treks to Rudranath, Bansi Narayan, and Nandi Kund begin here. Nearby attractions include Badrinath (65 km), the Valley of Flowers, and Auli ski resort. From YogMatra Eco Homestay, the Himalayan peaks—Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, and Nanda Ghunti—are clearly visible at sunrise, while the Kalp Ganga River, flowing from Chaukhamba peak, nourishes the entire valley with pure spring water.

ABOUT ACCOMODATION

Live in a Traditional Himalayan Mudhouse for 6 Days/ 5 Nights, nestled in the lush green fields of Urgam Valley, the “Valley of Meditation”. In the early ’90, the house was built in the traditional way using stone and wood and was inhabited by a local family, who abandoned the house a few years ago. Within a timeframe of 4 months, the YogMatra Team renovated the house according to traditional Himalayan methods: using mud, grass & cow dung.

The wooden balcony, which stretches along the four upper rooms, offers a mesmerizing view of the Himalayan peaks. The lower rooms have been converted into communal areas: a living/dining room and an open kitchen. The terrace offers space for yoga/meditation practice whilst overseeing the entire valley. There are two washrooms: one Western-style toilet and an Indian-style toilet. Hot water for showers is available.
